When that strategy in a 4-4-2 formation Pellegrini criticized – making process catapult Pellegrini on defense. With two attackers, making his midfield Pellegrini assessed to be less solid. Moreover, players techniques such as David Silva and Samir Nasri, who mounted on the right and left outside the sector, also less okay to survive.
Well, then applied a similar formation Pellegrini when visited the headquarters of Liverpool. The difference, infield sector is now filled by Yaya Toure and Fernandinho, replacing James Milner and Fernando combination that fills the starting XI opponent Barca.
While Pablo Zabaleta and Vincent Kompany back fill the last line, accompanied Eliaquim Mangala and Aleksandar Kolarov who replaced Martin Demichelis and Gael Clichy in the middle of the week.
As when facing Barca, City again lost by a score of 1-2. In its capacity as observer and commentator, Jamie Carragher, who is also the former Liverpool player then with sharp highlights Pellegrini’s decision to install a 4-4-2 again.
“Using the system (4-4-2) in the major parties is naive. It is a shame for a manager with the ability seems to face the match against Barcelona for the second year in a row and then to Anfield like this,” said Carragher.
“There’s something not right about the City and should be no change when the season is over,” he said as quoted by the Daily Mail.
